Jana F. Jaros

I don’t know how many bios I have written in 3rd person and ended up scrapping. I have finally let it go and come out with my own voice instead.

My background  includes my formal training in Interdisciplinary Art at the Ontario College of Art and Design, Toronto, On. That is when I fell in love with life drawing and figurative art.

After completing my studies, I ended up in the world of scenic painting as a scenic artist for where I painted signs, murals backdrops, sets , props for theatre, film, exhibits and commercial venues throughout Ontario. Not exactly an obvious job market, but one I found immensely rewarding, along with the community within this hidden niche. Eventually I reconnected to life drawing through Studio 201 in  St. Catharines, On. where I was a coordinator and also an active participant.

After a time I relocated to the Ottawa Valley north of Ottawa, where my loves for arts and culture did not stop. I established an online arts hub to connect the various forms of arts and culture together in an under-served and under represented area  requiring a dedicated arts and culture platform. The platform provides support, information, networking and connection. It has been growing ever since. The platform has led me to a participate in a couple of arts based community outreach projects. I also became involved with mural restoration combining my other formal training in heritage conservation (Culture Heritage Conservation and Management, Fleming College, Peterborough, On.), with my skills as a scenic artist-painter and  my personal artistic skills.

During all of this my art started to change, my figurative work started to reemerge in paint and I continue to pursue this.

My work can be found in private collections, has exhibited , won awards, and has been published in arts and literature journals. Of course, my pieces are special to me, but I am willing to part with them and let them be enjoyed by others. You can never have too many canvases, paint brushes, or paint.
